DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAN NAMED QUICK

crooked finger

Destination: Cable, Wisconsin. Well our first day out we made it to Black River Falls, Wisconsin. BRF as the locals like to call it, is a lovely little red neck town in wisconsin. My friend Kevin and I pulled in late on Thursday night and hit a gas station and met some some highly intellectual gas station attendents. They were telling us about the little Meth problem the town had and how high school girls were doing tricks for Meth....so much for raising your familiy in the midwest. After we discussed the large chain on the beer cooler with the boys, they pointed us in the direction of a bar/liquor store that could find us some nice cold bevs for the night. We went to a bar and the special of the night was," you can drink all you want for $7."....very tempting..but we just went for the ceremonial single beer. We did the chinese cheers and we bolted. We got directions to the campground and set up shop.

The next day we were in search of the holy grail of mtn biking in BRF---according to a bike shop in milwaukee. Kevin whipped up some of his oatmeal and we were on our way. We headed back into town to find the local bike shop so we could find out where the trails were. Well we searched and no one seemed to know of a bike shop. After leaving the hardware store with a deer on top, we found out a another feed store carried some bicycles.--we knew we found it!!
So we enter the feed store and we see some skateboards in a nice glass case and a couple of bmx bikes from the famous french bicycle maker huf fey or something like it....anyways they were nice....so a elderly man in his 80's i would guess,,hunched over ..asked us in a really sweet voice...can i help you guys........."yes..do you know where any mtn bike trails are in town"... well the old man....scratched his head and looked over at another guy in the store who happened to be on a respirator and he said " dont look at me"---we knew he didn't want to give up his personal single track stash....they were playing hard ball..........well the old man finally gave us a hint of where the trails were.....he turned and said....i think there are some trails ...that way....and as he pointed......straight.....we noticed that his finger was Crooked.....so he pointed straight but his finger actually pointed to the right.........which way was the trail????? straight or right........well we left the store...not accomplishing what we aimed for...but we had an idea.....and some great laughs.....
